Nejméně:
the least funny
Jaký byl ten film minulý týden? – Byla to ta nejméně vtipná komedie, jakou jsem kdy viděla.

Last = poslední; minulý

LAST označuje nějaký poslední nebo koncový bod. Může se jednat o člověka, příležitost, dobu apod.:

The last runner is coming in! (= There aren't any more runners behind that runner.)
 Už dobíhá poslední běžec!
Our team will finish in last place. (= the lowest rank)
 Náš tým skončí na posledním místě.
At the last moment, I changed his mind. (= as late as possible)
 Na poslední chvíli jsem ho přesvědčil.
When was the last time you saw him?
 Kdy jsi ho naposledy viděl?
Gabby returned to France last week.
 Gabby se vrátila do Francie minulý týden.

I'm the last person you should be asking for dating advice.

Naposledy:
the least last time
Když jsem s Rachel mluvil naposledy, stále ještě cestovala.

At last = konečně

AT LAST použijeme, když se po dlouhé době něco konečně stane:

At last I found a good job in Florida.
 Konečně jsem našel dobrou práci na Floridě.
At last everything can go back to normal.
 Konečně se vše může vrátit do normálu.
There were no taxis. At last we got home at midnight.
 Nebyly tam žádné taxíky. Domů jsme se konečně dostali až o půlnoci.
Mitch will return from Italy at last.
 Mitch se konečně vrátí z Itálie.

Významově se AT LAST podobá FINALLY:

At last, he picked up the phone.
 Konečně zvedl telefon.

Least = nejméně; nejmenší

LEAST používáme k vyjádření nejmenší míry:

Out of these three beds, yours is the least comfortable.
 Z těchto tří postelí je ta tvoje nejméně pohodlná.
It was the least funny movie we have ever seen.
 Byl to ten nejméně vtipný film, jaký jsme kdy viděli.
Ben got the least points.
Ben dostal nejméně bodů.

Opakem LEAST (nejméně) je MOST (nejvíce) nebo třetí stupeň přídavného jména (the most comfortable, the funniest...):

Your bed is the most comfortable.
 Tvoje postel je nejpohodlnější.
It was the funniest movie.
 Byl to ten nejvtipnější film.
Ben got the most points.
 Ben dostal nejvíce bodů.

LEAST používáme jako přídavné jméno (nejmenší), zejména když mluvíme o důležitosti nebo závažnosti:

That's the least of our worries.
 To je ta nejmenší z našich starostí.
The least mistake could cost you your job.
 I ta nejmenší chyba by tě mohla stát místo.

This is the least entertaining book I have ever read.

Nejméně:
the last least entertaining
Je to ta nejméně zábavná knížka, jakou jsem kdy četl.

Britney is the most attractive girl in the class.

Nejatraktivnější:
the most attractive
Nejméně atraktivní:
the least attractive
Britney je nejatraktivnější dívka ve třídě.
Britney is the most attractive girl in the class.

Money has always been the least of my problems.

Nejmenší (důležitostí):
the least of my problems
the least of my worries
the least mistake
Peníze byly vždy mým nejmenším problémem.
Money has always been the least of my problems.
At least = alespoň; minimálně

AT LEAST použijeme, když mluvíme o minimálním množství, počtu, době apod.:

It'll cost you 100 dollars at least. (= not less than 100 dollars)
 Bude tě to stát alespoň 100 dolarů.
We need at least ten more chairs.
 Potřebujeme ještě alespoň deset židlí.
I'll spend at least two months in China.
 V Číně strávím alespoň dva měsíce.

Pomocí AT LEAST vyjadřujeme, co minimálně očekáváme nebo co by bylo správné:

When you're running late next time, at least let me know.
 Až budeš mít příště zase zpoždění, tak mi alespoň dej vědět.
You should at least try it.
 Měla bys to alespoň zkusit.

Pomocí AT LEAST můžeme upozornit na pozitiva v negativní situaci:

The flight was cancelled, which is annoying. At least I got a refund.
 Ten let zrušili, což je otravné. Alespoň mi vrátili peníze.

That's at least three kilometers away from here.

Minimální počet:
at least three kilometres
not less than three kilometres
To jsou odsud alespoň tři kilometry.
That's at least three kilometers away from here.

Even if you don't like Johnny, you could at least say hi.

Co se minimálně očekává:
You could at least say hi.
You could at least smile.
You could at least help.
I když Johnnyho nemáš ráda, mohla bys ho alespoň pozdravit.

Pozitivní věc:
At least it doesn't break down.
At least it's safe.
At least it's comfortable.
Tato motorka je sice pomalá, ale alespoň se neporouchává.

Last but not least = v neposlední řadě

LAST BUT NOT LEAST vyjadřuje, že i když je něco ve výčtu na posledním místě, je to stejně důležité jako ostatní věci:

Last but not least, I'd like to introduce you to my brother.
 V neposlední řadě bych ti rád představil mého bratra.
And last but not least, here is our final award of the evening.
 A v neposlední řadě tu máme naší závěrečnou cenu dnešního večera.
